I started this page out as an experiment to see what it would look like if I completely covered a journal page using embossed card and painted it. I wanted to see what it would look like and if I could emulate the look of embossed metal or leather and just played around with the paints until I was happy with how it looked, you can see my step by step pictures below:
Step 1: I glued several pieces of embossed card that I had embossed using embossing folders onto my pages:
Step 2: I painted the whole page with a layer of gesso:
Step 3: Next I painted the pages a dark brown and burgundy mix of acylic paint
Step 4: Using my fingertips and various colours of metallic paint I gently rubbed across the surface to highlight and burnish all the raised parts till I was happy with how it looked.
Step 5: I affixed a stamped panel that I created separately using masking techniques to create a collage montage with the words Make Time For Art printed on it. I also added the clock face and hands which are die cuts from the Tim Holtz Alterations range.

WOW – that textured card stock worked out great. The metallic paints really make it look like metal. Love it!
